Lives of the Liners: Tales of the great Super Liners

These were a unique breed of ocean liners — they were the largest, longest, fastest, most luxurious ever to sail and represented the greatest maritime efforts of their nation. They were indeed floating ambassadors. They broke records, made history and were sea-going ambassadors to Americans, mostly at New York. Here are their stories — from construction to dramatic endings, from wartime losses, torpedoes and fires, to the inevitable scrap yards. We see the likes of the Mauretania, Titanic , Bremen, Normandie, Queen Mary, United States and the France. It is an immortal cast — perhaps the finest, most charismatic group of ships ever to put to sea.
