Lecture - Maritime Royalty: The Cunard Queens

Indeed, the most famous and successful and heroic pair of super liners ever created: the Queen Mary being a speed champion and last of the illustrious three-stackers, the Elizabeth as the world's largest liner. Both were extremely successful and immensely popular commercial Atlantic passenger ships and also valiant Second World War troopships, averaging an extraordinary 15,000 soldiers per trip. The Mary finished-up as a museum & moored hotel in southern California; the Elizabeth finished, quite sadly, in a fiery blaze in Hong Kong harbor. But we also look at their successors — the Queen Elizabeth 2 , the Queen Mary 2 and the Queen Victoria . Indeed, these are five of the most famous liners ever built.
