Getting There was Half the Fun: The Last Atlantic Liners

The 1950s and ‘60s were, in grand retrospect, the last high era of the famed Atlantic liners. But the first jet flights started in 1958 and so a rapid displacement followed — the liners were all but finished completely, sailing off into the maritime oblivion of the scrap yard or perhaps second rate careers. There are stories of the ships themselves, such as the United States, Queen Mary and France , as well as the passengers & crew that sailed them. There are shipboard special guest appearances by the likes of Rita Hayworth, Grace Kelly and the Duke & Duchess of Windsor. All aboard for a sentimental journey — crossing the North Atlantic sea.
